Jewish Survivor Turns 100

Young author Daniel Gittleman was a guest at Frieda Roos 100th birthday party. Friends and family gathered on Saturday April 25, 2015 to celebrate the centenarian's special day. Book Release for Iowa Auschwitz Survivor

On April 16, 2015, it was a great honor to have a new A BOOK by ME book released in Iowa's capital. A Lucky Lie by Sydney Pearl is the story of Jewish Survivor David Wolnerman, a survivor of Auschwitz death camp. The Yom Hashoah Holocaust Remembrance event was held at The Caspe Terrace in Waukee, Iowa. Our keynote speaker was Major General Timothy Orr of the Iowa National Guard. Frieda Roos Celebrates 100th Birthday

Today is World Book Day and we have an amazing book from the A BOOK by ME series to highlight on this special day. The subject is Frieda Roos who was a victim of Nazi persecution in The Netherlands during World War II. Before the war, her Jewish family was famous for their music. In fact, Frieda was a popular singer on the radio but this changed overnight. Like many Jews, she was forced into hiding and feared daily for her life. Tragically, she lost her entire family in Auschwitz death camp but somehow young Frieda survived. She immigrated to America and now lives in Charlotte, NC.
